It is possible to get steriods legally and many of the athletes playing at the professional level could require and benefit from steriods. I just still don't get how people think it's cheating...I mean you still have to have exceptional talent to play at the major league level and if something that helps you DO YOUR JOB (which many people forget) what's the problem, they do get paid for PERFORMING let's not forget. Nutrional supplements are not natural either, they SUPPLEMENT for what the body cannot produce, which is also something steriods can do. And the health effects are not yours do discuss since it is possible for someone to take steriods at a performance enhancing level without serious side effects. Here is the question I pose: If taking steriods is cheating because it creates an uneven playing field, then what about all the technological advances with equipment and training? And after all, what kind of competition has a level playing field? Why is taking steroids in baseball cheating?

Why is robbing a bank illegal? It helps you get money which you need, right? So that should be fine, then.

I could pay a professional Film Producer to do my final thesis on Film Noir, or record a copy of a Black Sabbath song and place a subtle vocal track over the top and pass either off as my own.
I don't know, perhaps we should have a purely drug enhanced sporting fraternity aside from the clean.
Personally I dislike sport anyhow.
Ecxeptional talent or natural talent should not require enhancement. These players are paid for talent.
Cheating is, by definition, disobeying the rules in order to gain an advantage. Steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs are against the rules; therefore, taking them is cheating. Whether they help or not is irrelevant.
Nothing is ever done by the books, but does that make it ok for whoever to do what they want to do without getting into trouble?
The coaches and owners are responsible for the players..they dont want them doing something to themselves, let alone, have to foot the bill. I dont think it should be classified as cheating, since it really isnt. You cant rig a steroid to make your team win. Steroids make your nuts shrink. I mean not just curl up at the ends but shrink like grapefruits. Dont know about other women, but I dont find that attractive. I know...I had a friend use them and he went into detail...against my wishes. Places have tried allowing athetes to use them and it showed no difference really in their ability to play. Oh hell, just go read this.
Everyone can use the same equipment and training and they will get the same added benefit. Roids however react differently with everyones body. As for the roids. The ones they are talking about are the illegal ones.
Because they are taking them Illegally, and they give you an advantage over other players, and they dont want to promote to kids that taking sterioids is OK, because they can ruin your body.
it gives players an edge on other players. It make you stronger unnaturally. Most of all it is hazardous to your health. If you let pro athletes use it and say its ok, little kids will think its ok
Steroid is basically drugs that forces your metabolism goes above the limit (killing you slowly), supplement and vitamins are food/additive that's needed by body (which makes you healthier). Comparing supplement %26amp; steroid will give you nothing, because they work in different way.
The most reason of considering steroids in any sport cheating is because it removes sportsmanship in players. Taking steroids is like do anything necessary for the win, whatever it takes.
So let's think of this simple question:
Why breaking a sport rule will give penalty for the other team?
it works the same way. sport is sport because of the rule.
Your answer starts in Yankee Stadium, or Wrigley Field or Fenway Park .There four generations of you at the game having a hot dog and a beer. you are the youngest, you look over at your dad and say '; the first you took me here i saw Reggie hit a home run '; he looks over at his dad and says '; the first time you took me here I saw Mantle hit a home run'; he looks over at his dad and says '; the first time you took me here I saw Joe D hit a home run '; and his dad looks back at all of you and says '; the first time my dad took me here I saw The Babe hit a home run '; You spend the next five minutes arguing who was better. that's what the love affair with the game is about.
Steroids uses artificial substances to create artificial numbers. From 1900 to 1994 50 or more home runs were hit 17 times and Babe Ruth had 4 of them . From 1994 to 2005 50 home runs or more were hit 19 times..What used to be something extraordinary is now ordinary . We can no longer compare stats and our lives are poorer for it A sacred trust has been violated.
Now do you understand?
cause it's again company polices
The idea behind sports, the whole reason sports were invented in the first place, is as a show of athletic competition. Throughout history the world's different cultures have pressed the limits of the human body, however, altering that body makes the entire process futile. Steroids genetically alter, by increasing chemicals and hormones, the bodily make-up of a human. If all athletes were encouraged or just allowed to use steroids, then fans would see monsterous brutes that are closer to robots than human beings. It's simply unethical in competition based on athleticism. The reason it's drawn so much attention from the U.S. Government, however, has nothing to do with the hallowed game and everything to do with two political moves: (1) The [Pseudo] War on Drugs in the US and (2) The anti-trust expemption professional sports leagues are allowed. Also, it teaches children and young adults, two groups that are harmed by steroid abuse which has increased dramatically in the past years, that using steroids is an acceptable route to use to exemplify the body in order to be the best. I don't understand how any one would be interested in watching robots play each other; that sounds about as entertaining as watching a video game playing itself.
